The calculators collect nothing
Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The measurements you enter, the options you pick and the estimate you get are never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and we have no record that you used the tool at all. There is no account, no sign-up and no email gate.
The only thing that changes as you use a calculator is the address in your browser's bar, which we update so you can bookmark or share a particular estimate. That address stays on your device unless you choose to share it.
What we do collect
Server logs. Our host records standard web server information for every request: IP address, time, page requested and browser type. This is ordinary infrastructure logging used for security and diagnosing faults. It is retained for a limited period and we don't use it to build a profile of you.
Messages you send us. If you email or call, we keep what you send so we can reply. Nothing more.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages people visit and roughly where they come from. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google information about your visit, including your IP address, which Google uses to approximate your location. We look at this in aggregate, to work out which pages are worth improving. If you would rather not be counted, any browser-level tracking blocker or Google's own opt-out add-on will stop it.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent personal information.
- We don't set advertising cookies or run retargeting.
- We don't require an email address to use anything on this site.
- We don't pass your details to contractors unless you explicitly ask us to.
Third parties
The site is served through a content delivery network, which processes requests on our behalf and applies security filtering. Our web host stores the site's files. Neither receives anything from you beyond the ordinary request information described above. Google receives analytics data as described above.
If we add a way to request quotes from local contractors, it will be clearly marked, entirely optional, and we'll say on the form itself exactly who receives your details before you submit anything.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Given how little we collect the answer is usually "almost nothing", but ask and we'll tell you. Write to [email protected].
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll update the date at the top and describe what changed. We won't quietly broaden what we collect.
