Estimates are guidance, not quotes

This is the part that matters. Everything this site produces is an estimate generated by a model, based on figures you supply about a property nobody here has seen. It is intended to help you budget and to help you judge whether a quote is reasonable. It is not an offer, not a quotation, and not a commitment that anyone will do the work for that price.

Before committing to any work, get written quotes from local contractors who have inspected the hedge. If our figures and your quotes disagree, trust the person who has actually stood in front of it.

No liability for decisions made on our figures

We build the model carefully and publish how it works, including where it's weak. But we can't accept liability for financial loss, contractual disputes or any other consequence arising from decisions you make on the basis of an estimate or a guide on this site. Use it as one input among several.

Safety

Our guides sometimes discuss doing hedge work yourself. Hedge trimming involves powered blades and frequently involves working at height, and both cause serious injuries every year. Nothing here is a substitute for proper training, appropriate equipment and sound judgement about what you should be attempting. If you are unsure whether a job is within your ability, it is not. Hire someone.

Accuracy and changes

We review rates twice a year and correct errors when we find them or when they're reported. Even so, prices move, regional variation is wide, and any figure here may be out of date by the time you read it. If you spot something wrong, tell us.

We may change, add or remove tools and content at any time.

The text, calculators and rate model on this site are ours. You're welcome to quote a short extract or a figure with a link back. Republishing pages wholesale, or copying the calculators, is not permitted without written permission.
